Weekend Productivity
In the interest of keeping up with updates and in an attempt to exert some discipline, I've decided to actually submit content on a Saturday. That will definitely be the exception rather than the norm, so that's what I wanted to ramble about today. I have a very specific idea about the use of weekends that needs to be seen/heard/whatever, but maybe I'm just a child in an adult's body.
Lazy is Law (Kinda)
I will admit, that there's nothing wrong with a productive weekend, but I think they should also be an exception instead of the rule. Weekends are the only time I really get to do what I want for a full day (or two). Just being able to have a precious day that isn't dictated by the demands of a job is priceless. In a world where we're all just drones driven to action by every-fucking-thing-else's marching orders, it's nice to take the power back and live by my own rules, more or less. Now, sure, that may be lazy, but other times that could mean I have some specific personal interest I want to grind on with a laser focus that only a full free day could accommodate. Does that sound lazy? Well, yes and no. Some may say yes since it's just time spent something I'm interested in (which rarely have any practical purpose), but I say no because it's not like I'm not actually doing anything. That's just a very roundabout way of saying "productive" is relative, I guess.
Experimentation Adds Value
Under my ideal weekend circumstances, I have a whole 48 hours to do cool stuff. Like some people, I have weird "waves" of interest in things, or I'll be so completely bored by something that I feel like I need to do something new to break out of that old rut. Weekends are excellent for this. That's how this whole website thing came about. I had done web dev stuff in the past and thought it was generally enjoyable, but as always, doing a hobby as a job tends to kill enjoyment in the hobby. Here I am current guy in current time and looking for something to do. Not just anything, though; I've done every cool thing I could think of. I decided to look around at old website providers and saw a reference to neocities.
